Hey Lisa, from @lisahands.nailartist!

Tell us a little bit about you!

Hi, I’m Lisa Hands, I’m 36 & I’m in Derby.

I’m a mum to two who are 12 & 15.

I’m a Costa & Starbucks addict (I’m obsessed with a Pumpkin Spiced Latte), plus I’m a crazy dog lady, my little pack often pop up on my instagram feed and in the salon.

How did you get into nails?

I used to spend hours sat painting my nails to look as natural as possible with a micro French for school as we weren’t allowed anything on our nails & they never did catch me out! Lol.

I did an NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy in 2008, as soon as I qualified I went straight into working self employed in a busy salon as their only Beauty therapist, from there I worked in a few salons renting spaces before I opened up my own small salon.

Covid hit though & I had to give up the space I was renting as I couldn’t afford to pay for it while we were in Lockdown.

So, I decided to get a small cabin for the garden to work from home, which was only big enough for a nail desk so I decided to focus purely on nails.

If it wasn’t for finding Amy & The Nail Tech Org I don’t think I’d still be a Nail Tech I would of gone back to doing all of Beauty Therapy, but they really made me love my job and the creativity it brings!

I’m a real geek I love to keep learning.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

Definitely 100% the community!

We all feel like one big family & all support & encourage each other so much. We are all each other’s cheerleaders! 

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

I’ve done a few but I think for me my whole mind set changed after doing the Educator Elevation.

I was one of the first to train with Amy herself and it was so challenging but rewarding!

If you haven’t done the Expert Course I would 100% recommend that too.

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I love the arty designs, mix and match or themed nails.

I’d be bored if I only did plain colours every day.

Glossify Naturabuilds & my trusty Dolls House Nail Art Brush that Amy made!

Who is your dream client?

This is a hard question but I think Tara Maynard.

I always love the nail art she chooses and she always makes me laugh on her Instagram stories, so I think I’d have fun doing her nails.

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?

Community, Authenticity, Inspiration.
