The Nail Tech Org was founded by nail tech and multi-successful salon & training academy owner, Amy Guy, in 2020. With over 50% of nail techs leaving the industry within their first five years, it was clear there was a need for a platform that provides real tools, guidance, and support. Being a nail tech is about so much more than just “doing nails”–it’s about building a career and a life you’re truly proud of.

What comes to mind when you think of the life of a nail tech? I’ll forgive you for thinking things like *working all of the hours with little time for yourself*, trying to figure out how to actually grow on social media, and getting to the end of the month wondering where all of your profits are – because up until 2020 I thought the same. Throughout my decade-long career as a nail tech working in all corners of the nail industry – from side-hustling using my Mum’s ironing board as my nail desk (true story), to co-owning 2 salons, a cosmetics brand and a training academy in Liverpool with 27 members of staff – I know first hand how passionate nail techs are about making it in this industry. But I also know the challenges that it brings.
When the pandemic hit, everything changed. Overnight, nail techs all over the world saw their livelihoods snatched away, leaving many feeling lost and scared for their future. They turned to social media to connect with others going through the same thing, and I saw so many nail techs struggling – not just financially, but emotionally (myself included). Our work may have been taken from us, but our passion was stronger than ever, and something incredible started to happen. We were coming together, supporting one another, and lifting each other up in ways the industry hadn’t seen before. Instead of competing, we were connecting, cheering each other on, and building a sense of community. It showed me that what we can achieve together, far outweighs anything we can achieve alone.
The moment I created a £10 virtual nail art masterclass in the middle of the UK lockdown was the moment the idea for The Nail Tech Org was born. Built on the foundations of community, connection, and expert guidance, it’s a place where nail techs from all walks of life can grow into the *best version of themselves*, both in business and in life. My journey has taken me through the trenches – whatever you’re going through you can bet I’ve experienced it too. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: you are capable of more than you realise, and with the right support and guidance, whatever dreams you want to achieve are well within your reach.
