Hello Olivia, from @byoliviahelen!

Tell us a little bit about you!

My name is Olivia, I’m 24 years old and I’ve been in the nail industry for 4 years. I’m from Prescot which is a little town outside of Liverpool and I’m based in St Helens. In my spare time I love to read, go out with friends and going on walks with my boyfriend.

How did you get into nails?

I’d always do my own nails from a young age, I never found anyone who did them the way I like.

So I started painting my own nails at home with my amazon gel kit. I think that’s when the love of doing nails started.

In school I had no idea what I wanted to be or do.

I felt so much pressure with exams and I just didn’t think college/uni was the route I wanted to take.

I started an apprenticeship in a local salon doing hairdressing, I was there for around 4 years but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought.

I put myself on a nail course and after the first pandemic I officially went self employed. Like anything else it came with it’s challenges, in and out of lockdowns but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

My favourite thing has got to be the community.

Everyone is so genuine and helpful, anytime I need advice I hop straight onto the news feed and I know I can count on at least one person to help.

There’s no competition just positive vibes. It’s just a group of people who share the same passion for nails.

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

100% the educator elevation, it’s so informative!

I would never in my wildest of dreams believe that I’d have the knowledge I do now before attending that course. 

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

My personal favourite is minimal, you cannot beat a classic French.

Although after a day of French manicures, it’s always refreshing when someone comes in asking for something out of the ordinary.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

It has got to be either Glossify’s Naturabuild or my Lucy Pastorelli E-file & Dust Extractor.
