Meet Our Member of the Month: Jodie from @manicuredbyjodie

The Nail Tech Org wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing people in our community.

This November, we’re celebrating Jodie from @manicuredbyjodie as our Member of the Month!

Scroll to learn all about her journey as a nail technician, her holy-grail products, favourite things about being an NTO member and more…

Tell us a little bit about you!

I’m a bit of a pistachio-loving, skincare junkie and total interior design obsessive.

I live with my boyfriend, and my circle of friends is small but we’re basically sisters…we’ve been in each other’s lives for over 20 years.

When I’m not in nail mode, I love travelling (I’ve done a few solo trips too – highly recommend), reading anything self-development related or a good thriller, and as a treat spending slow days at a spa or going for afternoon tea.

I’m really close to my parents, I’m grateful that I get to do my mum’s nails every month, and my dad’s had a MAN-icure a couple of times, too.

How did you get into nails?

I trained in nails years ago (too many to count!) as I always loved doing my own growing up.

I had clients alongside my corporate marketing job but that took over so I stopped doing nails, even though I loved it.

After lockdown I knew I spent some time thinking about what I would do outside of a corporate world and came back to nails.

So I retrained in 2023, juggled clients and full-time work until this March when I left my marketing job.

How did you find The Nail Tech Org?

I came across NTO on Instagram not long after I retrained but didn’t join until this February.

It was end of 2024 when I felt confident enough in my work to think I could make being a nail tech a career so wanted to join a community where I could meet others who had already achieved what I wanted and get support on how to properly set-up and run a nail business.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

The Monday calls – my body is automatically set to joining a Zoom at 10am!

It feels weird when I can’t make one.

And the fact everyone is so supportive, willing to give advice and cheer you on.

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

I went to MANI-fest in September and I feel like that gave me so much clarity on the branding side of my business.

I’ve also enjoyed the pedicure tutorials as I don’t offer them being mobile but will be soon at my home studio so it’s been really helpful to see other nail tech’s techniques.

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I love a clean, one colour set – always using timeless colours.

My clients usually rotate between nudes, French, reds or natural pinks. Cleaning up cuticles is the most satisfying bit for me.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

My e-file to get a really clean cuticle and glowy skin and my loop tool as it helps so much when cuticles are a bit more stubborn.

Once I’ve used both of those is when my clients say how much better their nail looks before we’ve even gone in with a colour.

Who is your dream client?

Definitely Claudia Winkleman…her manicure colours are similar to what my clients choose – simple, timeless and chic.

I’d love to find the perfect red shade for her and have a good chat.

Do you have any future plans? Let us know!

My home studio has just finished being built so I’m excited to have clients come to me from November.

I’ve been mobile up to now so I’m hoping I can transition my business to mostly being based at my private home studio.

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?

Full of positive energy! (I know that’s four, hopefully it still counts!)
