Let us introduce you to our first member of the month for 2025…

Hey Fiona, from @dollyboonails!

Tell us a little bit about you!

I’m Fiona, a nail tech based in Beeston, Nottingham.

I have a home salon and work part time hours whilst being a mum to my two daughters who are 9 and 2.

How did you get into nails?

I used to work in childcare and during lockdown and having to take a step back made me rethink my career and future.

I wanted to do something different, I wanted to work for myself and have flexible hours to work around my family.

I’d always loved everything nails and beauty so I gained my qualification & then I joined NTO and began setting up my business– a home salon!

I had my second baby whilst setting everything up and had a break before I’d even really started, I didn’t go back to my old job post maternity leave and have just taken the leap to do nails properly since January.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

The community.

The support I’ve had and friends I’ve made through NTO is just amazing.

Such positivity and advice when you need it, especially as a newbie nail tech it has been so beneficial.

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

I had no idea what I was really doing at the beginning, going from an employee to self employed. Also becoming not just a nail tech but a novice content creator too.

I have found the business courses and content creation so helpful.

Maddie cook’s money masterclass is also a game changer.

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I am such a magpie!

I love anything bright or shiny so I find I gravitate towards really fun nails.

I really love nail art, bold colours or patterns. and I want to do more of these (not just on myself) next year.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

I love HONA gel paint in black it’s fantastic for nail art as it is a thicker consistency to gel polish so for detail, outline work and for isolated chrome designs it works so well.

Also the etching tool also from HONA has been a game changer for prep.

Who is your dream client?

Rihanna!! I always say this! I would love to do her nails for a music video (R9 still waiting) or for a savage Fenty runway show!

Supportive, motivational, community.
