Meet Our Member of the Month: Hanna from @houseofnailsandbeauty

The Nail Tech Org wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing people in our community.

This September, we’re celebrating Hanna from @houseofnailsandbeauty as our Member of the Month!

Scroll to learn all about her journey as a nail technician, her holy-grail products, favourite things about being an NTO member and more…

Tell us a little bit about you!

Hi! I’m Hannah, 32 years young.

Massive foodie, love eating out but I also love to cook – I’m always trying out new ways to make unhealthy foods healthy.

My sweet potato brownies are to die for!

I am a gym girlie, I enjoy lifting weights but I also like to move my body in calm moments by practicing yoga and mindfulness.

Although I may have to give Pilates a go soon. I would say I’m quite free spirited and I love all things teal and unicorns!

My family are everything to me and I’m so lucky to have had them by my side and support me through life.

Unfortunately I don’t have any of my grandparents physically here anymore but I know they are following me every step of my journey and when I was lucky enough to have them by my side they were a massive support/influence on getting me to where I am today.

How did you get into nails?

I have always had an interest in beauty and nails, from a very young age I was always in my Nanny Vals make up bag and rummaging through her nail varnishes.

I always enjoyed doing my own nails and playing around with them and all the different techniques / arty things you could do!

I also remember my Dad used to paint my mums nails and he even had tiny paint brushes to draw art on them with, so the love for nails and creativity has always been there but my nail journey started properly when I realised quite quickly in sixth form I didn’t want to go to university.

My mum suggested going to the college and checking out the beauty course as I had always loved doing my own nails.

That was in 2011, a few years working in a couple of different Salons and in January 2016 House of Nails and Beauty was born.

I opened up self employed in a little back room of an iconic business called Binks – a newsagents/turned into a coffee shop within our local area (I used to buy sweets there when I was in primary school!)

I worked two days there and part time employed within a hairdressers. Six months later I took over the lease and after a couple months renovating, 20th September was the official opening day of my brand new Salon.

I was able to purchase the building a few years ago which was exciting!

It’s actually crazy to think this all started 9 years ago, so it’s quite fitting I’m member of the month for September really. Happy Salon Birthday to me!

How did you find us?

I found NTO on Instagram, after Amy had reached the news with the pricing movement there seemed to be a lot more of the members club popping up on my feed – and I’m so thankful for it.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

My favourite thing about The Nail Tech Org is the members days.

Amy always creates the best days and they are super empowering.

To be able to get outside of your comfort zone, travel to new places, be in a room filled with inspiring women, meeting the best people and making connections is just amazing!

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

I can’t lie, I haven’t actually sat down and engaged in any of the courses or tutorials yet.

I have been following the business programme month by month (which is incredible may I add) and the tutorials don’t get much of a look in at the moment!

But, I have looked through them and there are so many tutorials on absolutely everything. I will probably start with the nail art tutorials when I make the time!

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I love all things nail art!

I don’t specifically have a favourite style or design, I just love jazzing up a set of nails and making my clients happy with the outcome.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

Holy grail product would have to be my nail art brushes!

I wouldn’t be able to create teeny tiny masterpieces without them.

Who is your dream client?

My dream client would be my Nanny Val.

I don’t really follow celebs to pick who I would want to come through the door .. But I really looked up to my Nan and all that she was.

Even though she’s not here and never got to physically see the Salon, she’s with me and in every set of nails that I do.

It would have been an honour to do her nails in the salon so yeah, she’s my dream client.

Do you have any future plans? Let us know!

I hadn’t ever really thought about future plans before joining NTO.

You kind of just coast through work and life without giving yourself the time to sit and really reflect on what you want from it all – I do have plans now.

You will just have to watch this space!

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?
