Hey Aislinn!
Tell us a little bit about you!
I’m Aislinn, but mainly go by Ash!
I’m 32, a mum to a 16 month old baby boy and a 4 year old miniature dachshund.
I live in Wickford, Essex with my partner of 15 years.
I work full time as a data analyst for a global corporate company, have done for 12.5 years.
I love all things creative, I’ve always got a DIY project on the go – though they do take me a little longer now I’m running around after a little one!
I’ve also always been into gaming, however that has taken a huge backseat recently!
How did you get into nails?
I’ve been painting my own nails for as long as I can remember, but my interest in nail art probably started about 16 years ago and then I really started trying to improve my skills and recreate everything I could find on Pinterest!
I did all arty and creative subjects at school and college, so to find myself in a corporate job where the most artistic I can be is choosing different colours for a bar graph, I found that I needed to find an outlet to release all of my creativity.
I’ve done so many things, painting phone cases, making friendship bracelets and other pieces of jewellery, and at one point I even sold some press-on nails on Etsy (though they are seriously cringeworthy!) but something I always stuck to, was painting my nails.
My sister always asked me to do hers, and one day I thought, maybe I should do a course and then I found NTO.
What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?
How welcoming and supportive the community is.
When I first joined I would attend all the lives I could, but stayed on mute without my camera on. It took about 6 months for me to finally switch my camera on and speak up!
I was so anxious but can remember so clearly that “coffee and a catch up” where I finally opened up and said how I had an Instagram page but was yet to post anything.
Amy and the NTO gang persuaded me to post that day, and so I did.
I never would have got started without everyone being so kind and encouraging. Camera and mic has been on ever since!
NTO also has the best resources. The nail art library is so extensive and the business advice is second to none.
What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?
The beginners course was incredible!
I researched courses for ages before NTO showed up on my feed, and I thank the algorithm gods for that.
None of the other courses I had been looking at even touched the surface of what the NTO course provides, especially the business side of things.
I’m also currently obsessed with the new business program, it is undeniably one of the best things I’ve read in my life.
What are your favourite kind of nails to do?
I love love love detailed nail art. Painting tiny little pieces of art is so fun and I love the challenge.
Although I’m also now quite fond of toenail reconstructions.
The transformation and the look on a clients face when they have brand new feet is the best feeling!
Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.
Ahh I have so many. I definitely couldn’t live without my efile, so many uses in one machine to give me the cleanest prep!
Who is your dream client?
Hmmm, maybe Harry Styles?
He’s always down for nail art, plus there’s something so satisfying about a guy with well manicured hands. More guys need to get nail art, they’re genuinely missing out.
