Tell us a little bit about you!
Hey! I’m Marie and I run my own little home salon where it’s just me, my clients, plenty of coffee, laughter and chats!
I work four days a week doing what I love and I’m also studying AAT Accounting online — so I’m juggling nails and numbers at the same time.
When I’m not working or studying, I’m usually with my fiancé (soon-to-be husband!) — we’re always busy with some kind of DIY or our next hyper-fixation project.
There’s never a dull moment in our house!
How did you get into nails?
I first got into nails when I went to college at 16 to study Beauty Therapy.
I loved everything about beauty, but I quickly realised the creative side of nails was my thing.
I could sit for hours perfecting a set and never get bored.
Fast forward a few years and in August 2020 — right in the middle of COVID — I decided to take the plunge and go fully self-employed.
Scary? 100%! Worth it? Absolutely. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made!
How did you find The Nail Tech Org?
Like most of us — through Instagram!
I kept seeing other nail techs talking about how much The Nail Tech Org had helped them, so I had a look and instantly loved the vibe.
It’s such a positive, welcoming space and I love that there’s something for everyone, whether you’re new or experienced.
What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?
The community, hands down. Everyone is so supportive, there’s zero judgment and it’s just a lovely place to connect with other techs who get it.
I also love how much education they pack into everything they do — you’re always learning something new!
What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?
I’ve loved dipping into the tutorials and business-focused content in the Members Club.
It’s all so practical and easy to apply in real life — no fluff, just useful stuff that actually helps you grow!
What are your favourite kind of nails to do?
I’m a sucker for clean, aesthetic BIAB nails — simple, glossy, and timeless.
But I also can’t resist a bit of sparkle, especially around Christmas!
Glitter ombrés and reflective French designs are my go-tos when clients want that extra festive touch.
Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.
Ooh that’s a hard one!
I’d have to say The Gel Bottle BIAB — it’s a ride-or-die product for me.
And my Willow Academy e-file… absolute game changer. I genuinely couldn’t work without it!
Who is your dream client?
Honestly, anyone who appreciates the art behind nails!
I love when clients get excited about designs and trust me to create something beautiful. Someone creative, stylish and maybe a little bit extra would be perfect!
Do you have any future plans? Let us know!
Yes! Long term, I’d love to start offering 1-2-1 training sessions for other nail techs — both newbies and experienced techs who want to brush up on skills or confidence.
I’m also planning to combine my accounting knowledge with my nail career to help small businesses with things like tax tips and finance advice.
I’m really passionate about promoting nail education and breaking that “just a nail tech” stigma — because this job is a mix of science, skill, and so much creativity!
