Hello @itsgrlnails !

Tell us a little bit about you and how you got into nails.

Hey guys, my name is Gab and on Insta I go by the name @itsgrlnails! I currently do nails part time and work full time as well. I’ve worked in Prisons, Offices, Pubs and even an English School in China but I am definitely my happiest when doing nails and plan for it to be my future. I’ve been a member of the NTO since September 2021 and this community is a huge factor in making my goals and dreams come to life. So blessed to be a part of such magic within the nail world!  

My nail story is a bit all over the place! I started doing my own nails as a teen, copying a million Pinterest boards and YouTube videos. I worked in a salon for a short while but then changed direction and went down the University route where I studied Counselling. After quite a few different ventures and always doing nails as a hobby, I decided in 2021 to make a go of it properly as it’s something I could just never let go of! When I started using good quality products my love for nails just escalated into a 24/7 obsession! I got all my certificates in 2021 and have been doing nails part time since as I’m still working full time. Doing nails is 100% my happy place and I’ve realised in the past year or so, you need to just go for it and do what you love and what you enjoy doing.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

I love that there is a whole community and network of people just like you, more experienced than you, newer than you and how all this knowledge, love and support is surrounding you. I think feeling alone in the industry is what made me so fearful of ever doing nails as a business. It was quite a daunting industry when I dipped my toe in many years ago. But now you can make your nail business whatever you want it to be. The Nail Tech Org encourages you to do so and continually pushes you to be the best you can be. Whether it’s engaging in the news feed, watching tutorials to upskill yourself or sitting in on the masterclasses that help with business, mindset and everything else, it just really has it all to make you feel empowered and confident to achieve.  

What’s your favourite course?

This is so hard to choose! I loved Lauren’s 3D bottega as it was my first-time seeing acrylic powder used for 3D nail art which I now absolutely love doing. But I also love Leanne’s Amber Stones because it is such a satisfying video to watch and the definition of trust the process! 

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I’m a pretty versatile gal as I do love a fresh set of plain builder but give me a good few hours to do sit and do a funky mix and match set and I’m in my element!
