Meet Our Member Of The Month, @xlvbeautyx

Here at the Nail Tech Org we are literally obsessed with our growing community of insanely talented nail technicians, from all around the world. Let us introduce you to our Member of the Month for January 2024….

Hello Lauren, from @xlvbeautyx!

Tell us a little bit about you!

Hey, I’m Lauren (Loz), a mum of 2 from Norwich.

I have been working in the nail industry now for almost 3 years and it’s been the best thing I ever did.

I am my own boss, I can work around my kids and it doesn’t feel like work to me. I’m so grateful to be where I am right now!

How did you get into nails?

I qualified as a Nail technician in 2016 when I was pregnant with my first child, however it was a very basic course and I never felt confident in my work so returned to my job after maternity leave.

In 2020 I was working as a maternity care assistant for the NHS which I absolutely loved, however due to the pandemic I was working 12 hour night shifts and then coming home to a 1 year old and home schooling my son.

It all became too much in December so I took a couple weeks off to decide what I could do going forward.

During this time I found Abigail on instagram and decided to get my old kit out and follow along with one of her lives, from that day forward I created a new design on my nails every evening. It was my wind down time, my time for me. I fell in love with everything nails. I decided to ask for money for Christmas to book myself on to TGB course with nail gal Nat. I went to London in March 2021 and that was when my journey began.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

Everything haha. No but seriously if I had to choose 1 thing it would be the community.

I feel like I found The NTO at a time I really needed it. It was lockdown, we were all at home, lonely, lost and it was my place to go to feel part of something.

I made friends instantly who I still talk to almost 3 years later on a day to day basis. Going to Manifest was a highlight of my year getting to meet those online friends in real life!

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

I am currently doing the educator elevation course and am loving it!!

As soon as I felt ready to take the next step in my nail journey I knew it had to be with the NTO. Watch this space ✨

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I am a minimalist, so I love the nudes!

I’m obsessed with  how nudes can look so different on different skin tones, it fascinates me.  Nail art for me is best with a nude base and just a little bit of sumin sumin like a French tip or line work- perfect!!

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

A good brush: my go to is brush H from Nailsluxe. I use mine both for refining my builder gel and for the perfect French lines.

An Efile: I trained with Lucy pasterelli and it elevated my prep immensely while reducing the time of my manicures…win win!!!

Builder gel: it’s a game changer. My clients nails have never been better!!

Good prep tools: the Navy pro tools have made my manicures what they are today. I couldn’t live without Ethel and Doris either!

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?

Community, growth, invaluable!
