Are You On The Wrong Nail Technician Course?

When starting a nail technician course, sometimes things don’t always go to plan. While some of us can rely on gut instinct and know when something’s not right, some of us don’t have that same ability. And we’re stuck wondering, ‘am I on the wrong nail technician course?’

We’ve written before about how to know you’re on the right course, but sometimes you don’t realise you’re on one that’s not for you, until it’s started. And unfortunately this can, and does happen.

Here are the telltale signs you’re not getting your money’s worth.

You are not learning anything new

If you are already familiar with the basics of nail care, and your course is going through the beginners’s basics of nail care, then you may find that you are not learning anything new and being challenged.

This is a sign that the course is not challenging enough for you, and you may not be getting your money’s worth. This is your sign to go for that intermediate course!

You’re not getting enough hands-on experience

As with any practical skill, hands on experience will take you further than solely written material and images/videos.

If you are not getting enough hands-on experience, you may not feel confident in your ability to perform nail services on clients.

The course is not well organised

If the course is poorly structured, and you feel like it’s disorganised and messy, it won’t help you make the most of the time and can be frustrating to sit through.

Try and find a course that is well structured, split into sub lessons and thoroughly goes through every bit of content, to overcome this.

You are not enjoying the course

We are the first ones to say that if you are not enjoying it, please get out!

Being a nail tech is super fun (even the training), so if you feel like you are not enjoying it then maybe this course is not the one for you. If you know that nail art is what you want to do, the course should be interesting and fun.

Good instructors will make the course engaging and make you look forward to a career in nail tech.

What to do if you’re not satisfied?

Talk to your instructor about your concerns in private. They should take your comments seriously and help you get back on track.

Don’t be afraid to go over their head and contact the course providers by email or in person if you can. If you are still not satisfied, you may be able to negotiate a refund, at least for the classes you have not yet taken.

Finding the right nail art course for you…

Now after all this, don’t be worried. Finding the perfect nail course for you can be easy, and the fact that you’re at the Nail Tech Org is already a brilliant start!

To find the perfect nail course for you make sure you are looking at trusted reviews and recommendations from the nail community, looking at what certifications the providers have, and always avoid ‘too good to be true’ courses.
