Meet Our Member Of The Month – @nails.with.sophie

Here at the Nail Tech Org we are literally obsessed with our growing community of insanely talented Nail Technicians, from all around the world. Let us introduce you to our Member of the Month for May 2022….

Hello @nails.with.sophie !

Tell us a little bit about you!

Hey! I’m Sophie, I recently made it to my 30’s which I believe will be my best decade yet! I am a part time nail tech and a full-time sales manager in events and recently became a home owner which makes me feel like a proper adult.

I run 2 business instagrams @nails.with.sophie and @weddingnailsyork as I am wanting to build a niche within the wedding sector in my city.

When I am not working you will find me on the sofa watching movies with my boyfriend, at my sisters catching up with my nieces & nephews or having coffee catch ups with friends.

If there is coffee or pizza available I am there.

I love netball and play every tuesday in a casual league and I have mentioned to Amy that a NTO sports day could be quite hilarious.

I like to keep busy and my calendar is always full, I have been known to say ‘if it’s not in the calendar it’s not happening’.

How did you get into nails?

I originally trained when I was 17 but then decided to go to university and study events straight after qualifying.

I recently got back into the industry when I was furloughed during lockdown from my full time job. My journey was inspired by Bio Sculpture, who were offering free nail art courses for qualified techs and I fell back in love with the industry!

I got on Instagram and started following amazing nails techs including the wonderful Amy Guy and started creating every set I could. My passion for creating and customer service is rolled into one with this industry and I love building amazing relationships with clients so I started off by providing mobile appointments across York.

My boyfriend and I bought our first home in May 2021 and in July he surprised me and had transformed our brick house in the garden into my very own nail room (imagine the floods of tears of joy when I saw it) and since then my part time business has grown.

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

This is a hard one!

I love the business packs I find them so insightful and the content really supports me to push my business to the next level, there is such a high level of detail included which was never really discussed when I first trained and I find it to be soo valuable.

I also love the weekly check in’s as they have really helped me to focus and recharge every week, I make sure this is the first thing I complete on a Monday morning.

Finally the community – it is incredible, thoughtful and supportive and even though you haven’t even met the other nail tech’s, you know if you need help or advice, they are there for you.

I cant wait for all the announcements that I am sure Amy has planned this year.

How did you find the beginners course with The Nail Tech Org?

I completed the expert experience with the Nail Tech Org and oh my god was that amazing.

Throughout the course I learnt and relearnt so much about the theory behind our industry, the world of business and of course received the highly anticipated Nail Bible which I always get DM’s about as people want to buy it themselves.

As someone who has been qualified for over a decade I really found this to be key for boosting my confidence when going through technical elements with clients.

What’s your favourite course?

Wow there is so many!

I loved Amy’s flame tutorial, I remember this was one of the first videos I watched when I signed up to the Nail Tech Org and it was brilliant. Amy was just super enthusiastic and I knew that I needed to learn more.

I also loved Emma Jacksons guest artist course on French tips and I am always striving to perfect my technique.

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

I am a French obsessed nail tech. Whenever a client asks me what design I should do, they know I will choose a French as it is my favourite.

It is just so classic and versatile how could anyone not want it?! I love a wedding French it makes me so happy.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

It has to be a scrub, I am never without a good scrub as I think it can really elevate the experience for your client and also get the mani camera ready.

My all time favourite is the Super Healthy Skin Body Polish from Beauty Pie, it is unreal.

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?

Supportive, Inspiring, Family
