Meet Our Member Of The Month, @houseofbeauty_mcr

Here at the Nail Tech Org we are literally obsessed with our growing community of insanely talented Nail Technicians, from all around the world. Let us introduce you to our Member of the Month for May 2023….

Hello Laura, from @houseofbeauty_mcr

Tell us a little bit about you!

Hi, I’m Laura from Manchester, I first joined NTO in lockdown when Amy started the lockdown lives.

I work from a Shipping container Yard in Ancoats, on the edge of Manchester City Centre.

I absolutely live and breathe nails, if I’m not working on someone’s nails I’m working on my business somehow either behind the scenes watching tutorials or listening to podcasts.

I have recently launched my own brand of cuticle oils to retail to my clients.

How did you get into nails?

I got into nails after struggling to adapt and go back to work after having my son (who is now 8 years old).

The thought of having to put an almost 1 year old into nursery and see him for probably an hour a day after a long commute was just too much for me!

I handed in my notice with not a clue what I was going to do.

I was then sat having my hair done fascinated watching the nail tech at the side of me and it was a massive light bulb moment.

I had booked onto my first nail course before the end of the week, and it’s by far one of the best decisions i’ve ever made!

What’s your fave thing about The Nail Tech Org?

My favourite thing is that everyone comes together and supports each other, no competition, no judgement.

I actually now work with a fellow member @tailored.beauty_with_kathryn.

We work from a shipping container yard in Ancoats, on the edge of Manchester City Centre.

What’s your favourite course you’ve done with us?

My favourite course was The Expert Experience.

I felt I learnt more than I thought possible after already completing my level 2 and 3.

I really enjoyed learning about the chemistry behind nail products.

What are your favourite kind of nails to do?

My favourite nails are probably a nude BIAB base with minimal nail art.

Tell us about a holy grail product in your kit.

My holy grail product would have to be Brillbird Brush & Go.

I mainly use the black or white for French and nail art but I do have a big collection of colours too.

Another product I couldn’t live without would be my own brand cuticle oils which I use on clients and also sell to my clients to use between appointments.

I was inspired to launch my own brand after watching a live of Amy about working smarter not harder and increasing income by selling products.

In the last lockdown I dedicated my time to creating these and threw myself into an online essential oil course which eventually brought me the perfect ingredient list I needed.

If you could sum up The Nail Tech Org in just 3 words, what would they be?

Empowering, motivational and encouraging.
